POPUP’s “Adopt a Learner” programme makes provision for corporates and individuals to adopt a POPUP learner for the duration of their developmental journey at POPUP or part thereof.

You can add value to the life of a POPUP learner, by investing holistically: spiritually, emotionally, physically and financially.

This programme allows for the individual to connect with a POPUP learner on an individual and personal level, with access to the following:

  • Name of the learner adopted.
  • Contact details of the learner adopted.
  • Face-to-face meetings at a time and place convenient to both parties.
  • Feedback on the developmental journey of the adopted learner.

POPUP will recommend a suitable learner based on your specific requirements and expertise. An upfront briefing session will be held to explain the programme and clarify expectations from all parties involved.

You can engage in this initiative by making an investment in the following areas:

1. Financial investment

You can make a substantial difference in the life of a POPUP learner, through a financial investment in POPUP.

This financial investment can be a once-off investment or you may opt to sign a monthly debit order.

Apart from making an investment in the future of a learner you may also, subject to criteria from SARS, deduct your contribution for tax purposes.  POPUP will issue a Section 18A certificate to all funders for this purpose.  Corporate funders may also earn B-BBEE benefits for social development, skills development and enterprise and supplier development if they fund POPUP.

2. Friendship support

  • Meeting face to face with a POPUP learner on a regular basis.
  • SMS/WhatsApp support.
  • Praying with and for a POPUP learner for specific areas identified.

3. Individual coaching and mentoring

  • Coaching and mentoring a POPUP learner in a specific skill.
  • Coaching and mentoring a POPUP learner with regards to workplace expectations.
  • Coaching and mentoring a POPUP entrepreneur in starting and managing a business.
  • Attendance of the learner’s certificate ceremony.

4. Workplace Exposure

  • Creating opportunities for a POPUP learner to experience the world of work.
  • Allowing a POPUP learner to engage in practical workplace exposure as part of their respective skills programmes.
  • Entering into learnerships/internships with POPUP learner(s).
  • Entering into a supplier agreement with a POPUP entrepreneur to supply products or a service.
