SOFT SKILLS PROGRAMME

After completion of this National Qualification Framework credit bearing programme, appropriate candidates are offered an opportunity where they will be provided with business skills as well as equipment and consumables to:

  • Start their own enterprises.
  • Formal job placement as a seamstress in an organisation.

JOB OPPORTUNITIES

  • After completion of this Skills Programme work opportunities include:
  • Home managers/butlers in private homes.
  • Room attendants in guest houses, bed-and-breakfast facilities and / or hotels.
  • Preparing food in a hotel, restaurant, hospital, prison and catering companies.
  • Hospitals, old-age homes and/or similar facilities.
  • Cleaning services.
  • Starting own business.

PROGRAMME DURATION

  • 18 Weeks (compulsory attendance) Monday to Friday 08:00 – 15:00.
  • Learners will also attend a daily Continuous Personal Restoration (CPR) programme for 30min.

LEARNERS WILL BE TRAINED IN THE FOLLOWING UNIT STANDARDS REGISTERED WITH SAQA (SOUTH AFRICAN QUALIFICATIONS AUTHORITY):

Unit Standard:  123632 MAKE GARMENTS NQF Level 1 Credits:  20

  • Cutting out garment parts using a commercial pattern.
  • Preparing the workplace and setting the sewing machine.
  • Sewing, finishing and pressing the garment.
  • Checking the quality of the completed garment.

 

Unit Standard:  123633 SOURCE MATERIALS NQF Level 1 Credits:  5

  • Establishing material requirements.
  • Identifying suppliers.
  • Selecting and buying appropriate materials.

 

Entry Requirements: ABET Level 3
